Gramercy is one of the most fashionable neighbourhoods in New York City. Officially known as Gramercy Park, it’s where Hanna Nguyen lived for six years until 2011.
“During my life in New York City, between 2005 and 2011, I worked in the advertising publishing media industry as well as interning for New York-based high fashion designer Diego Binetti, where my dream vision began to escalate into reality,” Hanna says.
That vision sure did turn into reality. When Hanna returned to her home city of Sydney, she opened her very own women’s fashion boutique, Gramercy Couture.
“First was a Bondi brick-and-mortar boutique, followed by pop-up stores around Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and CBD, and weekend markets around the Central Coast of NSW,” Hanna says.
In December 2015, Gramercy Couture transitioned to online retail and today, it comprises a brick-and-mortar store in trendy Terrigal on the Central Coast, as well as the online store selling “boho and sassy styles” at gramercycouture.com.

“My dream is to provide everyone in Australia and all over the world affordable fresh new trends in flattering cuts that reflect your mood, who you are and how you feel – and therefore be an inspiration to others, whether it be at home, leisure or work,” Hanna says.
“I aim to continue to grow with my inner circle of customers for years to come, by consistently delivering not only versatile boho and sassy styles that are affordable [but also] friendly helpful style advice … as we grow and change together.”
Speaking about the physical store in beachside Terrigal, just over an hour north of Sydney, Hanna says she tries to offer service above and beyond the usual standard, including try-on appointments.
Because of this, “Gramercy Couture has become the go-to place for affordable school formal dresses and cocktail party dresses for the young ladies of the Central Coast,” she says.
Gramercy Couture is also a go-to for LGBTQIA+ customers, being a welcoming place for women, both cisgender and trans, to source the perfect outfit for Mardi Gras and Sydney Pride events, as well as community parties, networking events, drinks and club nights.
Gramercy Couture supports Mardi Gras Fair Day in Victoria Park, where Hanna and her team proudly represent the store at one of Sydney’s biggest annual queer events.
Gramercy Couture is also a regular at various markets, with stalls at the Umina Beach Markets, the Bondi Beach Community Market, the Wyee Markets, Terrigal Beach Markets, Long Jetty Markets and more.

But in the retail world, online is the fastest-growing sector – and Hanna has that covered too.
“From anywhere in the world, in the comfort of your home or on the go, the satisfaction of affordability, quality and great service is just a click away for all your lifestyle and fashion needs,” she says.
While style is synonymous in many people’s minds with cost – something many people are concerned about during the cost-of-living crisis – Hanna says Gramercy Couture’s stylish offerings don’t cost the earth.
“The savvy Gramercy Couture shopper never has to wait for the end of season sales because everything is below the recommended retail price right from arrival!”
Gramercy Couture is located at 4b/1a Campbell Crescent, Terrigal NSW 2260, with its online store found at gramercycouture.com.
