Usher is kicking off New York Fashion Week in style.
The singer, 45, was one of many stars to come out to Ralph Lauren’s NYFW kickoff in the Hamptons, N.Y., on Thursday, Sept. 5. Wearing a sleek monochromatic ensemble, the star embraced a casual yet elegant vibe in line with the scenic locale.
The Grammy winner wore a butter, yellow long-sleeve button-down with a pair of matching tailored trousers. He topped the look off with a gold choker chain, a pair of patent leather brown loafers and black aviator-style sunglasses.
When asked by PEOPLE how he felt in the color of the moment, the singer suavely replied, “It’s like butter baby, so smooth.”

The runway show, set against the backdrop of $15.8 million equestrian estate Khalily Stables in Bridgehampton, showcased showcased designs from its women’s, men’s, children and Purple Label lines. Fellow celebrity guests included H.E.R, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, Jude Law, Joey King, Brandon Sklenar, Laura Dern, Kacey Musgraves, Tom Hiddleston and Colman Domingo.
Afterwards, Usher praised the show and the Lauren family for their contributions to American fashion.
“This is truly an American story about an American family who comes together and has done amazing and managed to create culture in a way that people can live through this,” he added.
Usher is a longtime fan of Ralph Lauren and during Milan Fashion Week earlier this summer, he attended the Ralph Lauren x Esquire Dinner. The singer flexed his signature style in a black tuxedo jacket and jeans. He also wore a crisp white button-down shirt, black bow tie, black shoes and dark sunglasses.

In August, the “OMG” singer kicked off his long-awaited Past Present Future Tour with two sold-out shows at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, Aug. 20, and Wednesday, Aug. 21. He had previously announced he was postponing the first three shows due to a neck injury he suffered during rehearsals.
“My hope was that with physical therapy and medical treatment, I would be able to overcome the injury and be ready for opening night,” Usher explained in the Aug. 15 statement. “Unfortunately, the injury has not healed yet, and my doctors have instructed me not to perform any shows this week.”
The singer is set to perform at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., from Sept. 6 through Sept. 10.
He also promoted his concert film Rendezvous which is screening Sept. 12 – 15.
“I need asses in seats,” Usher joked.
