Would ya look at that – we’re at Friday again! Yay. While the summer can feel like one bizarrely long, hot weekend packed full of travel, randomly busy days, and wait, what date is it again??? confusion, I still am deeply happy when Fri/Sat/Sun rolls around. Time to soak up the sun and decompress. I just love summer.

Speaking of a summer affinity… I think I have one equally as intense for fall (if not…more so?). Anyone else with me? If you’re cursing me because it JUST freaking turned August Abby will you just cool it please – then I get it. Fair. But let’s relish in these next few weeks of hot-turned-less-hot weather and the ramping-up of layers, even more denim, earth tones, and camp-firey, fresh, leaf-color-turning air. Tehehe. Oh and all the end-of-summer sales, too.

Right, riiight. That’s why you’re here.

Hey, hey Friday. Whew. August? What the actual. July was a whirlwind of Nsale, travels, camping, more camping and travels and sunshine and family and friends. It was great, but I sure am looking forward to staying put for a bit now. In the AC. I experienced some frustrating travel delays on all of my trips this summer, so even though I pretty much exist to travel, gah, I need a bit to recover this time. LOL. And my own bed and sweet pets, so good. We finally installed a patio in the backyard this summer, too! I’m stoked as I’ve wanted this upgrade for years. If anyone has patio furniture they adore, please share! Can’t wait to set up a little oasis for maself.

And on to sales…this cotton polo sweater at Gap tho…$23! And it smacks of the Madewell option that sold out fast in the Nsale. Oh heyyy my fav low profile adidas (Sambas are too thin in the sole for me) are available in that gorgeous earthy brown we loved from the Nsale, too. AND they’re on sale! These have a comfier sole and just a slightly chunkier profile without being too heavy or too much. Also, if you loved the Smoky Quartz Rise pants at the Athleta sale for their gorgeous shade, this soft LS top is in the same color and still stocked well and on sale, too. So so pretty.

ONE: This phenomenal Sutro Trench at Athleta is 25% off right now! It’s the perfect weight, has a great shape for a utilitarian kind of piece and if you’ve been around here for any time you know I’m so picky about raincoats (PNW probs) LOVE this one. I’m wearing a S which is a size down for me and I like the fitted look, but go with your regular size if you plan to wear thick layers underneath. This is one of those great almost all-season raincoats.

TWO: Um, hi, score. These P448 Bali platform sneakers I’ve been wanting to try out (P448 are some of THE comfiest I’ve tried, but I wanted to find an updated style) are available at Nordstrom, Anthro and elsewhere but on sale at Nordstrom Rack! Like, they’re 55% off! SWEET. Ordered. I wear my true EU size in them. Cannot wait for these to arrive!

Straight to sales this week. 20% off almost everything at Abercrombie where I picked up both of my favorite dresses of the summer: this denim midi vest dress is nice and stretchy and comfortable as well as flattering and this gorgeous printed maxi cut-out dress has been my go-to for summer events.

Dress (M) | Dress (M)

ONE: A&F’s Denim Midi Vest Dress I have Bev to thank for introducing me to this dress. I saw her rocking the black version and I knew I had to have it. It’s not only incredibly flattering, it’s actually one of the most comfortable dresses I own and I’ve been wearing it all summer. Made from 99% cotton, 1% elastane (has the perfect amount of stretch), also in black and white.

TWO: A&F’s Cut-out Maxi Dress was the biggest “risk-taking” option I purchased and it ended up being my favorite. I was so sure that the ‘drop-waist’ cut (along with the side cut-outs) would be unflattering on my soft lower belly area, but I loved it.This dress fits very true to size, the fabric has a crisp, cool feel, and it has pockets! Comes in regular, petite and tall sizes. I am wearing the ‘regular’ medium size and I am 5ft7in, for reference.

I miss my kids so much! My little one caught a cold and has been sick, which breaks my mama heart when I see him tear up during our video calls. I’ve been reading to him some nights and it helps to bridge the distance. But gosh, after the first days wore off, I started feeling their absence. This weekend we’re in full packing mode, we’re taking down my closet (you know my big closet, yes?)  and packing up the attic and garage. Should be fun with a 30-week belly.

Now sales, as much as I’m enjoying the warmer temps, I’ve started to think about fall as a postpartum mom, and definitely want all the pretty lounge sets. This one by Beyond Yoga (pants here) that I got from the Anni Sale will sure be a favorite. Second this cashmere set below will also be on repeat.

Sandals

ONE: I love the Rack for designer gems and these Vince cushiony sandals came this week and I can’t take them off. So put-together, soft and comfortable. I also got the sand color with black sole, the color wasn’t right for me but they are stunning.

It’s warm, the sun is shining, and we’re spending our time up at camp on the water. Andy’s three nieces are visiting from Hawaii, along with his three daughters, as well as Ozzie and Greenlea, so we’ve got quite a crew here. It’s “beautiful chaos,” as Andy says. It’s also why I’ll be keeping this short…

Simone Biles for Athleta is amazing (and 25% off), I’m loving this linen dress from J.Crew, and these adorable Comme des Garcons Converse shoes are over $50 off!

Happy weekend, everyone!

ONE: I’ve been wearing this MOTHER graphic tee so much– I accidentally washed it and was so happy to see it didn’t shrink! The fit is absolute perfection.

TWO: These Good American jeans are 40% off right now! I love the lighter wash and soft denim.

July is like February for me, it’s a month I struggle to get through. As much as I try to live in the moment, there’s just not many moments in either of those months that I enjoy, if I’m being honest. Sooo needless to say, I’m real happy it’s August. Jude is finishing up his last summer camp today and we have plans to take advantage of the Legoland water park + get some serious steps in around the safari park these next few weeks before school starts up again. I’m also about to choose my 10th (!!) book of the summer to read (which is more than I’ve read in the last ten years combined) – if you have a fave romcom book, LMK!!

As for sales, if you have a late summer wedding or event coming up, you’re in freaking luck, because there are so many gorgeous dresses in J.Crew’s sale section this weekend. I don’t personally need a dress, but I’m always eyeing up cute sweatshirts no matter WHAT time of year it is, and this Paris crewneck looks like it could be a $$$ designer item (the sleeve shape is perfect). But my top pick of the weekend probably goes to this – completely random, but completely worth every penny.

Jeans (28 Long) | Jacket (M), Joggers (M)

ONE: I have a new Gap denim try-on coming soon to the blog, but it doesn’t include these wide leg jeans (truly a perfect high rise wide leg), since I already knew they were amazing when I grabbed them last year. They’re currently UNDER $50, and a pair of jeans that can be worn alllllll fall/winter long (but throw on a tank + sandals for late summer, too!).

TWO: A reader recently asked for summer-to-fall jackets, and I swear by this one (you’ve seen me post it before but it’s very worth repeating). I love the way it looks over dresses, it’s cute with shorts peeking out from underneath, works great with sweats (especially your fave comfy hoodies), and thanks to the color, it also shines with transitional fall outfits. Runs really big, I’m in a medium and it’s oversized + swingy.

What a week! I’m racing to the weekend like many of you. I was scheduled to go camping with a girlfriend, but, sadly, due to wildfires in Colorado we had to cancel. Nonetheless, I’m excited because we decided to have a mini staycation and writing retreat together instead.

I’m definitely not ready to let summer fashion go yet, so this week my eye has been on items this sexy, pointelle sweater, which is so cute as a beach cover up and I would wear with linen pants. I also love this linen dress with it’s button front that goes from day to night if you switch from Birks to strappy sandals. Last but not least, I’ve had my eye on this cute straw tote with leather handles and trim. Linen and straw totes just don’t go out of style for summer.

Denim Trousers (30) | Wide Cuff Jeans (12)

ONE: I love these lightweight white denim trousers – I think they are so chic and easy to style. They do run a little large, so size down (I usually wear a size 31 right now, but the size 30 fits me best in this pant). I would absolutely wear these pants to picnics, BBQs, or business events.

TWO: I’m so glad these wide cuff jeans got restocked! These jeans are so comfy, but the style is just dramatic enough to make a statement. They fit my curves and also I won’t need to hem them (for reference, I’m 5’5”). I’m super excited to style these this fall.

Ugh. We’re on the tailend of covid over here – it was a weird run that took us each down, one by one, hard. Fortunately (or unfortunately?) I got knocked down first, but Chris did the heavy lifting for two days while I slept it off, and lemme tell you – does that work wonders! No wonder guys typically recover so much faster. I think the last time I was so thoroughly rested was when I had Elle (minus the around-the-clock nursing thing). Do not recommend this particular strain of the virus, but highly recommend just neglecting everyone but yourself for 48 hours if you do get it. Ha.

Sale goodies: This feels overstated, but I haven’t been this excited about a graphic tee in years! Just bought it. This 100% silk dress is under $100 (77% off!) and would be so perfect for everything from late summer soirees to holiday gatherings. Also just nabbed it. And one of the only pairs of jeans I actually loved in the NSale have been somewhat restocked!? They’re slouchy and cool and comfy and just different enough. True to size.

tee (xs) | trousers (TTS, 25R) | heels (TTS) | pants (s) | tank ($10! s) | sandals (TTS)

ONE: Gotta tout this tee again, because it’s back on sale for $20. I love the longer sleeve length and more generous proportions of the body. It feels easy and effortless and yet somehow a little more elegant than the shrunken tees I also love. I own it in three colors. It’s pretty oversized, I’m wearing an x-small. The trousers are on super sale, too. I didn’t love the color on me, so I’m in the process of returning them for more of an ivory shade, but I do love the fit. Wearing my usual 25R.

TWO: I’ve been wearing these all summer and somehow I’ve yet to take an updated pic, but trust me (and Amy…and everyone…) when I say don’t sleep on these crinkle gauze pants. They’re less wrinkly (or more intentionally wrinkly?), floatier and softer than linen, and the flat waistband is so, so comfy. Currently under $30 in cart. And the sandals are almost sold out in black but I love them in denim – and they’re only $15 in cart.
