New fashion show coming to the metro promotes sustainability

Two local fashionistas reveal what will be seen on the runway during the Conscious Collections Fashion Showcase

HITTING THE RUNWAY HERE IN THE METRO. JOINING ME NOW TO TELL US ALL ABOUT IT, LAUREN BATES. WE HAVE KELLI BELLO. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR COMING. THANKS, KALE. I MEAN, FIRST OFF, YOU GUYS ARE GREAT. I JUST I’M ON MY LUNCH BREAK, SO I’M SORRY. I CAN DRESS UP TODAY. YES. SO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THIS FASHION SHOW AND THE INSPIRATION BEHIND IT. WHAT IS IT CALLED? TELL US EVERYTHING WE NEED TO KNOW. YEAH. SO IT IS CALLED CONSCIOUS COLLECTIONS. AND THE INSPIRATION BEHIND IT IS REALLY ABOUT FOSTERING A SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY. FOSTERING THAT THROUGH SUSTAINABLE FASHION, THROUGH CONNECTING WITH OTHERS THAT KIND OF HAVE THAT CURIOSITY TO LOOK FOR A BETTER OR DIFFERENT WAY WHEN IT COMES TO BEING A CONSUMER AND THE KIND OF GRAVITY THAT IS THE FASHION INDUSTRY. ABSOLUTELY. AND SO I MEAN, WITH FASHION SHOWS, RIGHT? THE LOOKS ARE PURPOSEFUL. YOU TAKE THE TIME TO CRAFT THEM. HOW DID YOU DECIDE WHO YOU WANTED? WHAT DESIGNS YOU WANTED TO HAVE IN IT? YEAH. SO THAT WAS THAT WAS THAT WAS EASY. AND THAT WAS HARD. SO THERE IS REALLY A THIRST IN THE COMMUNITY IN OMAHA TO TO LOOK FOR A DIFFERENT WAY. SO WHAT I DO IS I’M A JOURNALIST BY NATURE, BUT I HAVE A PODCAST AND I REACHED OUT TO THIS LOVELY WOMAN ABOUT, OH GOSH, A YEAR AGO OR SO AND FOUND OUT THAT SHE IS THIS BEAUTIFUL FASHION GIRL WHO CURATES AMAZING VINTAGE, AND YOU HAVE A LOT OF FRIENDS IN THE SPACE TOO. SO THROUGH THAT, THERE WAS THAT CONNECTION. AND SO WE JUST KIND OF REACHED OUT TO THOSE WOMEN AND SAID, HEY, DO YOU WANT TO BE A PART OF THIS COLLECTION? DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING YOU WANT TO SHOW? AND REALLY, EVERYONE WAS SO EXCITED TO BE SIX OF US SHOWING. YES, SIX. OKAY. AND SO TALK THEN KELLY, ABOUT THE SCENE WHEN IT COMES TO OMAHA SUSTAINABLE FASHION. SURE. YEAH, ABSOLUTELY. I’M ORIGINALLY FROM CALIFORNIA AND I FEEL LIKE THE THRIFTING AND SECONDHAND OUT THERE IS VERY PICKED OVER. IT’S VERY EXPENSIVE. WHEN I MOVED TO NEBRASKA, I WAS WARMLY WELCOMED INTO A VINTAGE FASHION COMMUNITY. I FOUND A LOT OF REALLY GREAT STUFF. I MADE A TON OF NEW FRIENDS, AND TONIGHT IS JUST A BIG CREATIVE CULMINATION OF A LOT OF OUR SHARED PASSIONS AND INTERESTS. MY COLLECTION IS BASED ON A IT’S CALLED A DYSTOPIAN SCENT CARNIVAL, OKAY, WHICH IS A, YOU KNOW, THREE OF MY PASSIONS, KIND OF IN A BIG, FASHIONABLE SOUP. IT’S GOING TO BE WEIRD AND FLASHY AND IT’S GOING TO BE FUN. YEAH, I’M VERY EXCITED. YEAH. AMAZING. I MEAN, I’M EXCITED. SO IF VIEWERS WANT TO COME OUT WHEN, WHERE HOW CAN WE SEE IT? YEAH. SO WE DID SELL THE TICKETS, BUT FOR YOUR VIEWERS, I DID RELEASE A FEW MORE TODAY AND SO THE FASHION SHOW IS HAPPENING AT FLOORS, FLOORS, FLOORS IN BENSON. IT’S A GREAT COMMUNITY SPACE. IT’S ABOUT THE ACTUAL ADDRESS IS 7052. IT STARTS AT SIX WITH DOORS OPENING AND THEN IT’S KIND OF LIKE A MIX MINGLE. WE HAVE A FEW VENDORS. YOU CAN HAVE SOME EATS, SOME DRINKS AND THEN THE FASHION SHOW STARTS AT SEVEN WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHOP. EVERYONE’S CURATED VINTAGE LOOKS AND COLLECTIONS. AFTER THAT. PERFECT. WELL, THANK YOU
