Mattel has a new line of dolls designed to encourage older girls to follow their dreams.
The Barbie Dream Besties Assortment is the newest in Barbie doll offerings, bringing a fresh take to the popular fashion dolls. The new dolls are shorter than a traditional Barbie, and each represents a different 17-year-old character with career dreams.
The new line includes four dolls, each with their own personal style and dream career. Barbie “Malibu” Roberts wants to be the CEO of her own makeup business. Her doll comes with a clutch, sunglasses, a blow dryer, a hand mirror, lipstick, blush, and a phone. Barbie “Brooklyn” Roberts wants to be a famous choreographer. She comes with a boombox, a tablet, a ring light, a duffel bag, a phone, and her dog Pumpkin.
Teresa Rivera wants to build her own video game company. Her doll comes with a backpack, headphones, a keyboard, and a teddy bear. Renee Chao is a passionate foodie and wants to host her own food and travel show. She comes with a laptop, a handbag, a slice of pizza, a pretzel, a bag of chips, a smoothie, and a phone.
Dream Besties doesn’t stop with just dolls. Mattel is also developing music videos starring each of the dolls, with Malibu and Brooklyn’s videos out now. A new YouTube series is also on the way. Dream Besties will have 10 three-minute episodes following Malibu, Brooklyn, Teresa, and Renee as they chase their dreams.
The new Barbie Dream Besties Assortment is available now at major retailers.
