Hong Kong stocks up sharply on stimulus hopes

Hong Kong stocks climbed more than one percent in the opening minutes of Wednesday after reports said mainland leaders were considering fresh measures to stimulate the country’s stuttering economy.

The Hang Seng Index jumped 1.65 percent, or 292.10 points, to 17,956.83.

The Shanghai Composite Index added 0.34 percent, or 10.46 points, to 3,085.70, while the Shenzhen Composite Index edged up 0.25 percent, or 4.81 points, to 1,906.14. (AFP)
