HOLLAND, MI — A new women’s clothing store promises to deliver “great fashion” to the downtown Holland scene.

Family-owned clothing retailer Glik’s said in a statement it plans to open Clovier, a new women’s boutique on Oct. 25 at 8 W Eighth St.

The store will host a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. The first 50 customers in the store will get a swag bag and opportunities to win door prizes.

Glik’s said the store promises to bring a “fresh, vibrant addition to the local retail scene with trend-right women’s apparel and accessories,” including such brands as Vero Moda, Thread & Supply and Elan.

Clovier also will carry custom Holland sweaters made by U.S. clothing manufacturer Town Pride.

The storefront is currently home to Glik’s Men’s, which plans to move to an expanded location on Oct. 1 at 28 E Eighth St.

A representative from Glik’s said the relocation of Glik’s Men’s would allow the company to expand its men’s and women’s offerings.

Clovier is a new concept for the family-owned Glik’s brand, which opened its first store in Illinois in 1897. The name Clovier is partly an homage to second-generation owner Elsie Glik’s tradition of handing out pressed four-leaf clovers for good luck.

The name also rhymes with “vier,” or the number “four,” in Dutch, giving respect to the store’s Holland location.

Headquartered in Collinsville, Illinois, Glik’s owns over 60stores across the Midwest, including locations in Grand Haven, Saugatuck, South Haven, Benton Harbor, Fremont and Rockford.
