FASHION IN FOCUS VOLUME 1 – EUNIQUE WILSON
From denim on denim, to green monochrome and even head to toe Ralph Lauren, Eunique’s wardrobe proves to be unique.
Meet Eunique Wilson, a second year psychology student and a regular on the weekly Campus Fashion Recap with a penchant for style. He’s constantly evolving his wardrobe, graduating from the tried-and-true “sandwich method” to more advanced dressing techniques like adding layers and mixing colors.
Q: Where do you get your inspiration?
“I really have to give the credit to my mom. One thing about her, she dresses. She likes to keep herself well kept. My mom always kept me in some fly stuff,” Wilson said.
He also takes inspiration from his immediate family such as his uncles and even his grandma.
“They got a bunch of old pictures of them back in the day, like, I look at that. They inspired me a lot. So, family and Michael Jackson too. He’s so cold it’s crazy.”
Q: How do you go about building an outfit?
“I start off with maybe pants, like, pants and the top are the first things I look at,”
Wilson also speaks on the popular color-coordinating method known as the “Sandwich Method”, which involves matching the top and bottom of the outfit together with the middle serving as contrast.
“A lot of people like to do the sandwich combo method, but you have to do a little bit more than just that method, because, yeah, that method is good. It’s going to be reliable, but you have to get out, step out of the box.”
Wilson then dives into how he and others can begin styling beyond the aforementioned method.
“Pair some colors together. Pair some stuff together that you don’t think will match and see how it meshes together. That’s what goes through my mind.”
Q: Where do you like to shop?
“We love a good Goodwill. We love a good Nordstrom run. Don’t sleep on Walmart y’all, I haven’t brought from them in a minute because we supposed to be boycotting them…I like to go to H&M, I like a good Dillard’s,”
He listed his top places:
- Dillard’s
- H&M
- Gap
- Aeropostale
- Old Navy
“I think part of my fashion journey is how expressive, how I truly express myself in my clothes. Like, I truly find a passion in putting something into your outfit and making yourself feel good. When I throw that on, I feel good. Even in my sweats.”
