Tom Ford, the founder of his namesake brand and previous creative director of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, is set to receive the prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award from the British Fashion Council.

The Fashion Awards are a fundraising event for the British Fashion Council that started as a celebration of the role of fashion within culture and entertainment and amplified the important fashion news of the year. The event is sponsored by Pandora and The Peninsula London. The Outstanding Achievement Award honors individuals with careers that have helped build and change the fashion world through their work. Ford will be honored at The Fashion Awards in December; previous winners of the award include fashion industry giants like Giorgio Armani, Miuccia Prada, Karl Lagerfeld, and Dame Anna Wintour.

“It is an honor to be acknowledged for my contributions to fashion, film and culture by the British Fashion Council,” Ford said in a press release. “This award is incredibly special to me, as I have spent a great deal of my life in London. During my 35 years in the fashion world, I have focused on creativity and the love of beauty and style. Fashion and film are both collaborative efforts. One has to have a vision and then to communicate that vision to a team of talented people, and I would like to acknowledge all of those people who have supported me along the way. I am so very grateful to the British Fashion Council for this prestigious award.”
