MONROE CITY, Mo. (WGEM) -Last year the Monroe City Tournament had everyone on the edge of their seats, and this year was no different.
South Shelby and Palmyra duked it out for the girl’s championship game.
The Panthers were looking for a threepeat, but South Shelby had other plans.
In a game that went into overtime, South Shelby’s Callie McWilliams sealed the deal in a nail bitter 58-57 win.
“Every time we play them it’s always a physical game and it’s great. Those are the games good players want, and so, we knew that they had the target on their back, so there was nothing on us, and we wanted it more, so we got it done,” said South Shelby Senior Belle Roush.
It was another rematch game for boy’s championship, Monroe City vs Palmyra.
This was another game that went into overtime, and it came down to fouls and free throws, but the plaque stays home as Monroe City takes down Palmyra 51-47.
