On a warm Monday evening on the Upper West Side, the Friends of the CFDA gathered at the homes of Stacey Bendet Eisner and Laurence Milstein to toast the group’s initiatives and provide a forum for industry conversation, light bites, and a taste of the season ahead.

An invite-only group of individuals across the worlds of philanthropy and fashion, their work supports the endeavors of the CFDA, from programs built around young designers and sustainability strategy to diversity and industry education.

The evening brought together various champions of American fashion, from Nicky Hilton Rothschild and Amy Fine Collins to CFDA Chairman Thom Browne and a series of member designers. The event was split into two parts: savory snacks and a cocktail at Bendet Eisner’s residence, then dessert and champagne across the way at Milstein’s home.

With the clinking of a glass, Bendet Eisner opened the evening’s remarks. “Thom’s idea was to create a community of friends to support designers, and I’m so glad that we’re all here tonight,” she shared. “We’re excited to have this group, who are so passionate about furthering fashion and creativity.”

The Friends of the CFDA is aptly helmed by theater producer, couture collector, and sartorial inspiration Jordan Roth (wearing a decadent Kate Barton gown for the occasion). Nominated by Browne upon its founding, Roth brings a signature drive and vision to the Friends of the CFDA.

As the clock struck 7:00 p.m. at the halfway point of the event, guests traveled to Milstein’s residence for the dessert portion of the evening, featuring confections by pastry chef Lauren Schofield (the crowning centerpiece being a larger-than-life pineapple trifle).

Off to the side, Milstein said, “I’m really glad to have the opportunity with Stacy to bring people together who care deeply about American fashion and the design community.” Between the two co-hosts, their professional and philanthropic endeavors combine a range of fashion, art, and youth-oriented support, making this function a natural fit for their shared vision.

As the night drew to a close, Milstein gallantly walked a neighbor back to her apartment and encouraged invitees to sample Schofield’s craftsmanship one last time. Laughter and lively conversation lingered as guests hailed cabs and made their way to dinner reservations, the lingering optimism of a strong mandate ahead affirmed with festive vigor.
